If you are a .338 Lapua shooter, the 338 Lapua Sniper E-Type silhouette target is your target! You can start at distances of around 100 yards, and extend that to a mile or more.

Our 338 Lapua Sniper Target has a unique dual hinged 8 x 8.5 reactive 'kill zone' swing plate.

Steel Targets Based in History

The general shape of this target is based on a United States military E-Type paper target beloved by soldiers and Marines in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam, but with the unique combination of a double-hinged interior 3/8 inch plate and an external frame optimized for .338 bullet weights and the demanding nature of that high-velocity round.

It should be noted that this target/swing plate combination is specifically designed for the 300 Grain Sierra MatchKing round. Other high-velocity ammo can be shot at it, but may not elicit the same smooth opening and closing action of the targets relatively heavy swing plate. For example, when this target was tested using 22-250 Remington, various loads of 5.56 & 7.62x51, .30-06 and .300 Win Mag, with those rounds it requires more precision to hit the outer half of the swing plate to make it reset.

Note: This target cannot be used for .50 cal loads, as that combination of bullet weight and velocity puts it in a class by itself.

Army Tested

Back in 2004-2005, Salute Targets was honored to play a role with the US Army .338 Lapua acquisition and development teams. We received a call from the Department of Defense (DOD) team heads working on this project for the US Army. They were actually in the field torture testing their weapons, various commercial targets, rounds, angles, velocities and basic physics with regard to overall target & mount designs.

Based on that research on the 338 Lapua, we decided to offer our law enforcement and civilian customers a target that is result of all that hard target analysis work.

As combat veterans ourselves Army, Navy and Marines we get our motivation from, knowing that Salute helped make a valuable NATO contribution to our American, British and Canadian snipers having taken out scores of our enemies, in both Iraq and Afghanistan, at distances of over 1.5 miles.

The 338 Lapua (the name 'Lapua' is Finnish, and the name of a historic town & battle) is an incredibly accurate round. And our Salute 338 Lapua Sniper Silhouette Target is an incredible target to match it.
