Consider the classic "no goods" in Hollywood Western films like Rio Bravo, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, High Noon, and High Plains Drifter, among countless others. Not much else can be said about the cold-hearted killer in the American Wild West town that needed to be confronted and gunned down before law and order could prevail. No one else but John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, or Clint Eastwood could handle this filth and vermin. There was always a bad guy looking to prove himself against the good guy in America. Now it is your turn. Are you "going to whistle Dixie or use that gun?" Even after all these years, there are still bad guys lurking in the shadows. This figure is loosely based on one of the meanest, most cruel sociopaths in any of John Ford's list of bad guys: Liberty Valance. Jimmy Stewart would try his best, but it would take John Wayne himself to finally handle him. This hired gun from north of the picket wire is a brutal killer who surrounds himself by less capable thugs. Because his heart is evil and he believes in operating out of the darkness with a stacked deck, he will always be a threat and a challenge. Yes, the forces of evil are hard to quell, and you will find him repeatedly coming back for more. Don't waste time trying to reason with him. And don't turn your back on him. Never give him a second chance as he will give you and your friends no mercy. And make sure your shots count as his AR500 hide is plenty tough. Remember the essential lesson he teaches: "in the Wild West bastards often have brothers". And as Lee Marvin portrayed Liberty Valance's bad-to-the-bone character so well, there is the quintessential lesson of the Old West: "There is no second place in a gunfight."
