**NOTE: Mount Arm Not Included**
Wilcox Industries designs some of the most sophisticated and user-centric night vision helmet mount systems available. The first reaction people tend to have is to balk at the price tag. Sure, it is expensive, but like everything: you get what you pay for. Wilcox helmet mounts are, literally, works of engineering art. They are designed with direct input from US Warfighters at the very tip of the sharp stick. These designs are refined until they reach perfection and are then masterfully crafted in Wilcox’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The Wilcox L4 NVG Skull Lock Head Mount is the perfect solution for the user who does not want or need to wear a helmet, but still requires a comfortable and stable night vision mounting platform. This system incorporates a standard shroud interface plate that will accept any of the L4 Series mounts as well as the standard issue rhino mount and similar bracket-type mounts. The L4 NVG Head Mount is designed around a polymer substrate that provides “body” to the system and is adjusted using a series of nylon webbing straps to fit various head sizes. The suspension is topped off and enhanced by the addition of a Team Wendy CAM-FIT Chin Strap System that provides unparalleled adjustment and comfort to the wearer. A series of positionable pads ensure that no sharp edges or hard material contacts the wearer’s head.
The system includes a rear-mounted, mesh counterweight bag that can be filled with a shot bag or any other material to better balance the goggle on the user’s head when utilizing heavier dual-tube devices. Lastly, the L4 NVG Head Mount comes complete with the excellent Wilcox Retractable Lanyard to help prevent the loss of goggles if they are dislodged from the mount.
The Wilcox L4 NVG Head Mount is an excellent unit for those who do not need or want to wear a helmet. Because most of the system is comprised of webbing, it can pack down flatter than a helmet for travel or storage. Also, because there is no hard shell surface, the L4 Head Mount will allow the user’s head to breath more easily than a helmet. Head mounts have always struggled to provide comfort for the wearer and stability for the goggle. Ask anyone who has spent more than five minutes wearing a standard issue USGI head mount and they will tell you that there is little wonder to the origin of the nickname “skull-crusher.” But, the Wilcox L4 NVG Head Mount actually excels in comfort due to the precise shape of the polymer substrate and the massive adjustment in the straps and pad placement. The ability to comfortably attach a counterweight increases the versatility of the system. The counterweight pouch can hold all sorts of other field gear including a strobe, weapon cleaning kit, spare batteries, dip, etc.
