Alien Gear Holster with Fan

#AlienGear will introduce four new modular #holsters in addition to an inside-the-waistband holster that features an integrated active cooling fan at the upcoming #SHOTShow.

Let’s cut to the chase and get right into this fan-equipped holster which has been previously unseen in the holster industry. The patent-pending, currently nameless IWB features a lightweight fan installed in a polymer unit. This fan directs air flow through “thermoplastic flow channels” settled underneath the holster’s textured surface, according to Alien Gear.

“It’s definitely never been done before. It’s not passive cooling like everyone else does,” Alien Gear Holsters Research and Development Engineer Silas Van Natter said in a press release. “Anyone can put a hole in a holster backer for breathability, but we’re forcing air through that hole to optimize functionality.”

The holster’s fan touts three settings — high, medium and low. The high setting offers the shortest battery life at eight hours while the low setting provides 15 full hours on one charge. The fan sports a rechargeable battery with charge time slipping in under the two hour mark. The company includes a USB charging cord. The holster shell design itself is built off the ShapeShift platform, delivering a modular design.

On the topic of ShapeShift, four new modular holsters are destined to join the lineup to accommodate shoulder, pocket, ankle and backpack carry styles. Though Alien Gear hasn’t revealed too much about these designs, it appears the holsters will nestle into the company’s ShapeShift modular holster system debuted last year at SHOT Show. Details are still sketchy with no official release dates or pricing, but SHOT Show attendees can take a gander at the new goods next week when the industry convenes in Las Vegas for the annual event. Correction: We initially reported four holsters would have a fan, but only one will.
